Integration

WaSMS + Zapier

Connect WaSMS to the apps you already use. Send WhatsApp and SMS messages from a Zap, and start a Zap when a customer messages you.

WaSMS is not listed as an app in Zapier’s directory. You connect it with Zapier’s own webhook steps, as shown below. Check that your Zapier plan includes the Webhooks by Zapier step.

Send a message from a Zap

Something happens in another app, and WaSMS sends the message.

  1. Create an API key

    In your WaSMS dashboard, open API keys and create a key. How to create a key
  2. Add a Webhooks by Zapier action

    In your Zap, add the action Webhooks by Zapier and choose Custom Request. Set the method to POST and the address to:
    Address
    https://wasms.net/api/public/v1/whatsapp/send
    Add these two headers, with your own key in place of YOUR_WASMS_API_KEY:
    Headers
    Authorization: Bearer YOUR_WASMS_API_KEY
    Content-Type: application/json
    Put this in the data box, then swap the number and the text for fields from your trigger. The number has the country code first, digits only.
    Data
    {
      "to": "923001234567",
      "message": "Thanks for booking. See you soon."
    }
  3. Test with your own number

    Run the test step in Zapier with your own phone number. The reply says whether the message was sent and, if not, why. What each reply means. SMS, email and contacts work the same way with their own addresses, listed in the API reference.

Start a Zap from WaSMS

Something happens in WaSMS, and Zapier carries it to another app.

  1. Add a Catch Hook trigger

    In a new Zap, choose the trigger Webhooks by Zapier, then Catch Hook. Zapier gives you an address. Copy it.
  2. Add that address in WaSMS

    In your WaSMS dashboard, open Developers, Webhooks, add the address from Zapier, and choose what should start the Zap: a message received, a message sent, a message status change, a lead form submitted, or a campaign completed. Webhooks guide
  3. Send a test and finish the Zap

    Send a WhatsApp message to your connected number. Zapier shows what arrived, and you can use those fields in the next steps of the Zap. Keep the Zapier address private: anyone who has it can start your Zap.
